We are CEG. You will probably already know our motors and electric machines for the lifting industry. Today, we want to share with you our own story, a story that begins like this…
50 years ago José Ramón Lasa dreamed of world without barriers. His great industrial experience acquired in his family businesses, beside his entrepreneurial character and capacity for innovation, led him to found CEG, Construcciones Eléctricas de Guipúzcoa in 1967.
CEG starts its industrial activity repairing motors. This experience, together with the long experience of the Lasa family in the development of electrical products, that was promoted since 1923 by José María Lasa (José Ramón Lasa’s father), gave birth to the first motor entirely developed by CEG, with the help of Javier Lasa, his newly incorporated son.
Originally these motors were applied to cranes. However, after three years, the first own motors for the lifting sector were developed. CENIA was the first customer, but not the only one. Soon these designs were used by other gearbox manufacturers such as REDUNOR, ORONA, THYSSEN, AUTUR and OMEGA.
In 1995, due to the high growth of CEG, it was decided to expand the facilities by moving its activity to its current location. With this investment, the production of the second generation of their own asynchronous motors also began.
CEG’s know-how achieved enlarge the demand for its products, which is why a further expansion of its facilities was necessary. Aware of the need to invest in production resources and R&D&I, it was decided to improve the facilities and to incorporate a testing tower that would allow new developments to be made, as well as certification of motors and brakes to be approved.
With the arrival of a new decade an important innovation was brought, the Gearless machine, which has not stopped evolving until now, adapting to new markets and trends in the sector.
None of this would have been possible without the trust of our customers, so thank you for trusting CEG over the past 50 years. “We grow with you, we grow for you”.
